NY Fashion Week - Donna Karan

What a great start to my work week. I just got ticket to a Donna Karan/Urban Zen event next week. I so love fashion. I can't wait to go next week. I am not getting involved with New York Fashion Week this year. It has actually been several years since I attended a fashion show. And now with all the turmoil and all the big sponsers backing out. The gift bags will be terrible.

Thanks mostly my reason for going besides dressing up are the gift bags. I grew tired of watching the fashion shows they are very short and they all start to run together.  My first runway shows for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week  was in September 2010. It was the first fashion show at Damrosch Park. I didn't realize that they had more sponsership and the goodie bag proved it.

I ended up getting at least three of these bags, and on of the most valued items in there was a free nights stay at the Elysian Hotel at Chicago 9 now the Waldorf Astoria Chicago.

We were there in April 2011. I am glad the hotel was great because the weather was bad. It rained half the time we were there. But I enjoyed it! I have to definitely go there again.

I accumulated about 5 of those vouchers and I took advantage and stayed 5 nights at the Elysian. It was of the best hotels in Chicago (in my opinion). I was a iPefer member and I got a free upgrade. So I sayed in one of their one bedroom suites. Their service is exquisite.

The after parties are so much better. I remember a few years back I attended a Betsey Johnson after party. It was the best? She was crazy as always. I met her in person and she was great. Too cute!

But I met fashion icon a few years ago and sat frnt row at one of her runway shows was, Carolina Herrera! It was a great experience, after the show I met her in person and then I was taken to her boutique on Madison avenue to for cocktails and to shop the collection that was presented. I ended up buying her lux cashmere throw. and we were gifted a nice CH wristlet.

I am looking forward to attend on of here bridal runways shows. A girl can dream right!

Well back to the present....I should be getting my itinerary for the Donna Karan event in the mail tomorrow. I will share the details soon.

This makes me want to get back into attending fashion shows again

Ciao until next time.

Wedding Season Is In Full Effect

I spoke to my friend Shelly who's getting married in Florida this summer and she is getting thing underway. But they are doing a courthouse wedding at the end of the month. I can't wait!! I am the Maid of Honor.

Another friend selected her wedding dress this week. We went dress shopping and she finally selected a dress. My favorite was this dress by Allure. But everyone didn't see how great it was. I thought it was the knock out among the rest.

Here's a pic of it:

On this mannequin doesn't do it justice. (Once she's married I will show the pics of her in it)

And since we are the subject of wedding I thought I would throw in a pic
from my first tasting of a Cronut.

I say tasting because I literally had two bites and forgot to finish it. But it was soooo good!
Maybe my second attempt will be after wedding season is over. And since I got it at DD, I be a authentic New Yorker and get an actual cronut from the Dominique Ansel Bakery in  New York City.

Have a great weekend!

I Love All Things Girlie.....

I drank the kool-aid, people. I indulged in some of the trends that I was trying to avoid.

First I got the Anthropologie Limited Edition golden inital mug. I know they have been out for a long time, but I gotnot one but three. I called around and the Anthropologie closest to me in Marlton had them on clearance for $7.95 + 25% off. Score! They had all the unusual letters, the Z's, X's, U's, and they had THREE "S" mugs. And I bought all three!

Next, I got the Starbucks ceramic tumbler from the Dot Collection 2014. My co-worker got me into it and I had to have it. But they were sold out everywhere before Chrsitmas. I searched everywhere but I ended up buying it on Amazon.
Which I love. I am going to get it monogrammed shortly. I also got this from my (CG) community bible study group as part of a care package when my dad was first in the hospital a couple of months ago. I love the hearts on it. So I didn't bother really looking at the rest of the collection for others. Which is how I missed out on the gold polka dots. I love polka dots!

Then I went to target on my lunch break and bought the Nate Berkus desk accessories. I purchased the gold-tones shears and the gold-tone stapler. I have been eyeing these for a few months, but the first time seeing them in-store. I didn't like the gold-tone tape dispenser, I actually like the Kate spade tape dispenser on covered in acrylic.

But now that I look at the Kate spade stapler(on the right). I like it better.  (Maybe I will hold get that one instead? We will see....)

But my last indulgence that I is today the trendy/infamous blanket scarf that online. But now that I think about it, I wonder if they will have on Canal Street in Chinatown. I might pick up one on my way home. We'll see. Looking forward to the long weekend. But also honoring the purpose of MLK Day, too. Have a blessed weekend.

Start of a New Year

It's been a slow start to 2015, but I am pumped! My dad was discharged from the hospital for the 4th time in three months. But I am grateful for God's grace because he's on the mend. He had a transfusion of 7 units of blood plus three units of plasma. He had no blood in his system. But he is doing so much better.

I live in South Jersey, but New York is home. I still work in New York, Brooklyn to be exact. So I am there almost daily. My commute consists of traveling 6 hours a day. But today...today was special. I got off the subway at Penn Station after work to this.....

It was crazy tonight!

Well I am home now.

But I am going to catch up on some much needed rest.

Goodnight
XOXO
